International Qualifications Tool: Details

Requirements

You can use the table below to learn more about which documents we will require from you at each stage of the admissions process. Application requirements are due by the application deadline, while final proof of graduation requirements are typically only due after you have been admitted to NYU.

For a complete application, you must submit:

  • Academic Transcripts

  • Standardized Testing of your choice, unless you are applying as a test-optional candidate

  • English Language Testing, unless English is your first language or you otherwise qualify for an exemption. For more info, see our full English Language Testing policy.

If you are applying for transfer admission, you will also need to submit all college/university transcripts in addition to fulfilling the proof of graduation requirements for your high school curriculum.

If you have already graduated from high school/taken your final leaving exams, you must send the final exam results when applying for admission.

Once admitted, if you applied using any unofficial credentials, including Standardized Testing or English Language Testing you will need to submit official copies as soon as possible.

How to Submit Documents

Admissions

Students can submit either official or unofficial documents for the purpose of our application review process.

  • Unofficial: If you are a current applicant, you can upload transcripts and self-report any required test scores via your applicant portal. Your ID numbers and instructions for accessing your portal will be emailed to you a couple of days after you submit your application via the Common App. If any official documents are not in English, they must be accompanied by an English translation.
  • Official: Official documents must be sent directly from the examining body or from a school official using an official school email address to be considered official. If any official documents are not in English, they must be accompanied by an official English translation, either issued by a school official or by a translation agency that is accredited in the country of the educational institution.
NYU considers the validity of application material and documentation to be of the utmost priority, please see our Application Authenticity policy here.

Matriculation

Now that we know you’ll be joining us on campus, we will require your official proof of graduation. Official documents must be sent directly from the examining body or from a school official using an official school email address to be considered official. If any official documents are not in English, they must be accompanied by an official English translation, either issued by a school official or by a translation agency that is accredited in the country of the educational institution.

Final graduation documents for students who attend high school outside of the United States must be sent to our partner, ECE, for authentication. For more information on sending documents to ECE, please click here.
