NYU accepts submissions of original/certified copies as well as unofficial documents. Documents not submitted through the Common Application can be mailed as well as sent via email to: admissions.docs@nyu.edu. You can learn more about preparing applications and submitting documents on our Resources for Applying page.

If you have already completed the equivalent of a U.S. secondary school education and have either a high/secondary school diploma or leaving certificates AND any of the following apply to you:
Please be sure to submit the appropriate Common Application to NYU (first-year or transfer) and review the requirements and deadlines for either the first-year application process or the transfer application process.
Follow the key dates and deadlines below. For programs that require an audition or portfolio, we encourage you to submit your Common Application one month in advance.

We are happy to use unofficial transcripts and test scores in the application review process. You can upload these documents to your applicant portal once you have applied to NYU and activated your NYU IDs.
Official documents can be submitted through the Common Application Recommenders portal, via email by a school official to admissions.docs@nyu.edu, or by postal mail.
If you want to double major across schools, your second major must be in the College of Arts and Science. Minoring is very flexible and students can take on a cross-school minor at any of NYU's undergraduate schools and colleges. On the Common Application, you will indicate your primary NYU school/college and program of interest. You cannot apply for a double major or minor on the application but can discuss this with an academic advisor once at NYU.

If you will have completed your country’s pre-university education (equivalent to U.S. 12th Grade) before arriving to NYU, or if any of the following apply to you, you are eligible to apply to NYU as a first-year applicant:
You are completing an internationally-recognized equivalent, such as the IB Diploma; or
You are applying from countries with school leaving qualifications based on the British educational model, and will have completed the A-level equivalent (neither O-levels nor (I)GCSE results will be sufficient for admission); or
You are currently enrolled in a foundation year program outside of the United States and have completed secondary school graduation requirements from your country as outlined in the International Qualifications Tool; or
Your highest degree earned by the time you plan to enroll at NYU is either a certificate or diploma.
You can refer to NYU's International Qualifications Tool to see which examinations you are able to submit and what supporting documentation is required for a complete application to NYU.
Students are exempt from the English language proficiency exam if English is their first language. Alternatively, they are exempt from the ELT requirement if they have been in a curriculum where English was the only language of instruction for three consecutive years. You can learn more on our language proficiency requirements website.
If you are admitted through early decision, you are expected to enroll at NYU. In addition, you are expected to withdraw applications from other schools, and not submit any new applications after receiving an offer of admission.
Exceptions are granted when an applicant is not admitted to their first choice or for financial aid purposes.

Unfortunately, you cannot. First-year students are only eligible to submit one application to NYU a year.
Please check the "additional items received" section of your applicant portal to check on the status of your Early Decision Agreement.
While it is not required, students who would like to submit the agreement may do so via the Common Application website or by sending a completed PDF version to admissions.docs@nyu.edu. We will notify your counselor of your Early Decision application if you do not submit the Agreement.

Your NYU Applicant Portal (available after submitting your application). Several days after applying you will receive an email with the subject line "Course Information Required by NYU," which contains instructions for completing your SRAR.
It will take up to 48 hours to show as "Received" on your portal. Around our application deadlines, it can take longer due to high volume processing times.
There is no need to worry - if your checklist hasn't updated yet, it should update shortly and we will reach out if we need anything else.
If your high school cannot be found, you can select "My high school is not on the list below." You can locate that option by navigating to the "Enter High Schools" page of the SRAR, clicking "Add School." choose your country, click "Search," then if you do not see your school, check the box that says "My high school is not on the list below."
Please report any college coursework that appears on your high school transcript under the high school. If it does not appear on your transcript, please do not include it in the SRAR.
If your school uses a non-traditional grading scale but still awards letter or number grades, please select "Letter Grades" or "Number Grades" with your school information. If your school does not use traditional number or letter grades, you can select "Narrative/Descriptive/Other (non-standard)" under "Grade Scale."
If you select "Decimal Grades" on the "Enter High Schools" page of the SRAR, you will be able to enter grades with decimals.
Yes, the SRAR is still required. If you are admitted and decide to enroll at NYU, your final official high school transcript will be required and reconciled with your SRAR.
You may run into some obstacles that aren't covered here or on our website. If you have a question about how to enter a course or grade, you should check the "Help" feature in the SRAR portal to reach out to SRAR directly.
To check the status of your application, and view your most up-to-date checklist, log in to your applicant portal. You can also find some additional information below:
Within 10 business days of submission, you will receive your NYU IDs that will be used to activate your NYU account. Once activated, you can log in to your application status page where you will be able to see your checklist, upload any new materials, request maintenance to your file, and eventually see your admissions decision.
If you submitted the document recently there is nothing to worry about. It can take some time to process your documents, especially around application deadlines.
If it's been longer than two weeks, please upload the material on to your application status portal.
The best thing to do is to keep an eye on your application status page. Once your documents are processed, which could take up to two weeks, your checklist will update. You can always upload the material on to your application status portal.
We can use unofficial documents during the application review process. You can submit most documents through your applicant portal in the Upload Materials section. Note: if you are admitted with unofficial materials, you will need to submit the official version after you accept our offer.

As long as the application was submitted through the Common Application, we will consider it "on time."
To update any of the following information, log into your applicant portal and click on "Personal Information Update Request." Once completed, an update in personal information may take up to two weeks to be reflected in all communications and NYU systems.
