NYU is committed to treating applicants with a criminal or disciplinary history fairly and with dignity and respect. Applicants who meet either of the below criteria must complete a disciplinary history form within 24 hours of completing their application. You will be able to access this form after submitting your application on the submission confirmation page or through the confirmation email that will be sent to you.

The disciplinary history form is required if:

You have ever been found guilty of or responsible for a disciplinary violation, or withdrawn with disciplinary charges pending, at your previous school for any act, including attempted acts, involving violence, physical force or the threat of physical force, a sexual offense, stalking, use or possession of a weapon, kidnapping, arson, any hate or bias incident, harassment, hazing, or any offense which caused or attempted to cause physical harm to another person
You, within the last seven years after the age of 14, have ever been convicted at trial, or pled guilty or no contest to a criminal offense, including attempted offenses, involving violence, physical force or the threat of physical force, a sexual offense, stalking, use or possession of a weapon, kidnapping, arson, any hate or bias crime, criminal harassment, criminal hazing, or any offense which caused or attempted to cause physical harm to another person

Please note NYU is committed to reducing barriers to education, and meeting either of these criteria is not an automatic bar to admission to NYU. Students are encouraged to complete this application regardless if the above criteria apply to them, and NYU will only review the information provided after a preliminary decision is made based on academic merit.

In order to ensure that application fees do not pose a barrier for any student, fee waivers are available for applicants who meet certain qualifications.

Any of the following indicators of economic need can qualify you for a fee waiver:

You have received or are eligible to receive an ACT or SAT testing fee waiver
Your annual family income falls within the Income eligibility guidelines set by the USDA Food and Nutrition Service
You are enrolled in a federal, state, or local program that aids students from low-income families (e.g., TRIO programs such as Upward Bound)
Your family receives public assistance
You live in a federally subsidized public housing, a foster home or are homeless
You are a ward of the state or an orphan
You can provide a supporting statement from a school official, college access counselor, financial aid officer, or community leader
